The peninsula of Halkidiki will enchant you with its verdant forest lands that reach the seashore, with its turquoise waters, with its traditional cuisine and cultural tradition. For your stay, look for the traditional guesthouses in Holomonta and in the rest of the mountainous areas of the peninsula.
Another must-go place is the Sani Festival which has been organised since 1993 and includes art, music and dance events, some of which take place on Sani Hill. It is a verdant promontory at the top of which dominates the Tower of Sani, a mediaeval observatory from the 14th-15th centuries. Visit the Sani Art Gallery, an elegant space in the commercial centre of Sani’s Marina, where mainly visual events are scheduled.
For those of you who love the sea, Halkidiki is the best destination as you will find many spots where you can feel the adrenaline reaching its paroxysm. You will have the opportunity to try windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving, water skiing and many other sea activities in Kassandra and in Sithonia.
If you are a boat explorer, there are plenty of hidden coves and dive in the Crab Holes and the islet of Ammouliani. Also, every July the Toroneo Diaplos takes place, one of the largest swimming tournaments of 26 km length, in which swimmers from all over the world participate.
In addition, don’t miss the Kassandra Festival which is organised every summer at the Amphitheater of Siviri with artistic events, visual interventions.
For lovers of culinary delights, Halkidiki is one of the many places in Greece to get to know the rich cuisine of the region and enjoy local products such as olives, white, rosé and internationally renowned red wines from Mavrotragano and Xinomavro, seafood delicacies such as mussels, as well as excellent quality honey.
